".....i am the same person but without the anger i had before, i feel great about myself now, i just want to say a big thank you and i would highly recommend margaret, she is great at what she does!"
Anger is an emotional state ranging from mild irritation to intense fury and is experienced when a person internally defines an act as threatening to their kith or kin, their self-esteem or their safety and security.
When a person becomes angry, physiological and biological changes prepare the body for action. The heart rate increases and the blood pressure rises. There is an urgent need to discharge physical or verbal action.
Angry people look trance-like because they are overwhelmed by provoking thoughts and reactions. The logical brain is suspended and people are less in control when they are angry.
Unfortunately, anger robs people of dignity, compassion and clear thought.
How Can Hypnotherapy Help?
"I now have a positive mental attitude that refuses to let things in my day to day life anger me, I can't thank you enough for your help."
I will first of all look at possible physical causes such as lack of sleep, low blood sugar, too much to drink or nutritional intake. Second, I will look at psychological causes such as lack of status leading to aggressive, bullying actions to gain power and control, lack of coping strategies or options, and focusing on past slights and hurts.
It is essential to break down rigid views that fuel anger so I identify limiting beliefs and challenge angry thoughts, using an 'observing self exercise' relating to a past angry memory or episode. I also teach relaxation skills and how to deal with aggressive behaviour. It may be necessary to disassociate unhelpful feelings from the past and to set rules for future behaviour.
Hypnotic rehearsal establishes a new approach to deal with the provocations that generate angry reactions, making life more calm and relaxed all round.
